The permanent maintenance of a high level of nuclear security in all phases of construction and operation of nuclear facilities and objectives is of vital importance and constitutes the first priority for the National Society “Nuclearelectrica” SA.<\/p>

The high degree of nuclear security is ensured by the way in which nuclear targets and facilities are designed, built, put into operation and exploited.<\/p>

The document containing the Nuclear Security Policy developed within the National Company “Nuclearelectrica” SA and approved by the Regulatory Authority in the nuclear field in Romania, guarantees outstanding performance in all important activities for ensuring nuclear security, in all phases of realization and operation of the objectives and installations nuclear.<\/p>

This document confirms and reinforces the fact that nuclear security has the highest priority, compared to the requirements related to production or the planned deadlines for carrying out investment activities.<\/p>

Nuclear security as a field is a set of technical and organizational measures intended to:<\/strong><\/p>

– Ensures the operation of nuclear installations in safe conditions;<\/p>

– To prevent and limit their damage;<\/p>

– To ensure the protection of personnel, the population and the environment against radiation or radioactive contamination<\/p>

The nuclear security philosophy of the CANDU6 type power plants is based on these objectives. This philosophy is based on three fundamental principles, namely:<\/strong><\/p>

The Protection-in-Depth Principle, which consists in achieving a high level of technical performance and nuclear security, by providing multiple physical barriers to the release of radioactivity to the environment (the nuclear fuel matrix; the fuel element sheath; the pressurized enclosure of the primary circuit ; tire system; exclusion zone).<\/p>

The ALARA principle, whose objectives must ensure the protection of operating personnel, the population and the environment, by establishing and maintaining adequate protection against radiological risks.<\/p>

The principle of Grouping and Separation, the grouping of systems with security functions into two groups was adopted in the plant project with the aim of providing for the protection of the NPP against events of common cause that would cause destruction in large areas of the plant at the same time.<\/p>

The consistent application of the principles contained in this document ensured and ensures the supply of electricity in very good conditions and a high degree, at the level of international standards, of nuclear safety at CNE Cernavoda.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
