SN Nuclearelectrica SA and Valahia University, partners for the development of education, research and innovation in the nuclear industry <\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bucharest, June 27, 2025 <\/strong><\/p>

SN Nuclearelectrica SA and the Valahia University of Targoviste have signed today a partnership which aims to capitalize on cooperation opportunities in various areas of common interest, with the objective of providing an integrated educational concept, academic-industry environment, for the training of a generation of top specialists.<\/p>

Thus, the partnership signed today between Nuclearelectrica and Valahia University will aim at cooperation for: providing internship base for students; granting scholarships; promoting internship programs; organizing technical visits for professors and students to CNE Cernavoda; equipping the laboratories of the faculties and the Institute for Multidisciplinary Scientific and Technological Research of Valahia University; supporting scientific research, technological development and innovation activities in areas such as small modular reactors, energy efficiency and digitalization; joint collaborative projects; supporting scientific activities and promoting academic excellence.<\/p>

“Identifying and training human resources has been and remains a priority for us. The development of the partnership with Valahia University, beyond the common interest for academic and scientific development, is an endeavor to train nuclear engineers who will become the new generation of nuclear scientists. The opportunity is twofold, both in CANDU technology and in advanced technology, SMR. One of the objectives is to link academia with the nuclear industry, to develop, to train applied and then mentor on site. I thank Valahia University for its professionalism and enthusiasm to train together generations of specialists in the nuclear industry, to develop educationally a strategic industry for Romania<\/em>!” – Cosmin Ghi\u021b\u0103, CEO of Nuclearelectrica.<\/p>

In the context of achieving Romania’s energy security objectives, Nuclearelectrica is the refurbishment of Unit 1 of CNE Cernavoda, developing new nuclear capacities, Units 3 and 4 of CNE Cernavoda and the Small Modular Reactors Project, and innovating through the Tritium Removal Facility Project and the Medical Isotopes Project. In the early 2030s, nuclear energy will account for 66% of Romania’s clean energy, 20,000 industrial jobs and local and national socio-economic development.<\/p>

“We say we have three strategic projects to expand nuclear capacity and one to train the generation to operate them. That is why, in parallel with the development of the projects, Nuclearelectrica has proposed through different measures, from identification in educational institutions to mentoring through current experts, to train a new generation of specialists to maintain and increase Romania’s current performance in nuclear energy.
