For nine years, Nuclearelectrica’s leadership was provided by Mr. Cosmin Ghita, who brought vision, medium- and long-term strategy, growth, and development of the company, commitment, and a focus on excellence in operations, development, innovation, and positioning Nuclearelectrica at the national and international levels.

The refurbishment of Unit 1 at Cernavoda NPP, the Units 3 and 4 Project, technological advancement through the SMR Project, the Tritium Removal Facility Project—unique in Europe— the Medical Isotopes Project—a first for Romania—and the maintenance and development of the integrated nuclear fuel cycle through the acquisition of FPCU Feldioara and its operationalization both domestically and internationally—are projects that have been carried out and advanced in recent years, all of which are essential to Romania’s nuclear program and to Nuclearelectrica. The development of strong technical and financial partnerships has also been a priority yielding concrete results.

Effective October 3, 2026, continuity at the executive management level will be ensured by Mr. Mihai Laurentiu Gioara, whose experience, professionalism, and achievements at Nuclearelectrica—in his role as Director of Development and Portfolio Management—will ensure the implementation of the company’s strategy and the achievement of its objectives.
